A nice theme and a gentle solve all in all, thanks Owlbazaar. Spoilers below:

Thanks Owlbazaar, good fun. After getting 6d and 8d, I initially thought "the same place" might be 29a, which held me up for a bit ... 26d made everything clear :-) Favourites 1a, 11a (very cunning ... I'm not generally keen on the device but given the solution/context it works!), 12a, and 25d (perhaps strictly needs def-by-example indicator but I think fair enough). Spoilers ...

Lots of fun, Owlbazaar, thanks. I think others have mentioned any quibbles so I‘ll just pick favourites: 11A (although need the notes to get it!), 12A, 16A, 14D, 18D, 19D (COTD).

Good fun! Highlighting the theme in the SI meant that once one of them landed, the others followed pretty quickly! Some of the non-themes ones were slightly chewier however. I got everything after a modicum of bunging-and-checking towards the end but had to consult your notes to parse a handful. 11a is a gem! Spoilerish comment in Reply.
