Cryptic crossword No 2,448

I was beaten by 17a which I thought was the cooked end result rather than a name given to the actual squid that are the ink producers so I was not on wavelength. Also by 19a where I dnk ABM as a rocket. I enjoyed a number of the surfaces - 12a, 1d, 13d, 16d and 20d make my podium. Thanks. PM.

Nice one Baldur, thanks. I very nearly managed all of this unaided although I did need a little help with parsing, most notably 4d. That was too clever for me and I’m still not 100% convinced. Lots of imaginative stuff as always. My favourites: 17a, 22a, 24a, 13a and 18d.

Thanks Baldur, I enjoyed this & needed help only with the solution of 23a and the parsing of 17a & 4d. My top picks were 10a, 15a, 19a, 22a, 5d (COTD), and 13d. I didn't quite understand your SI as I found very little that was 'vulgar' in this crossword. (Maybe we Americans are more accustomed to 'vulgarity' than you more refined Brits 😄).
