A nice gentle puzzle, Gradgrind. I imagine your group had fun assembling it. 26a suggests you are from the North though the word seems to be associated with Scotland, the NW and Yorkshire so there's plenty of territory to play with. 26a, 2d and 22d my podium. Thanks. PM

Thanks Gradgrind et al. I'll echo PM's thoughts - gentle and fun ... and a tad anagram-heavy, probably as a result of the collaboration. 3a my fave for the definition. The 3x unches alerted me to *something*, especially with the unusual choice of entry for 26a ...
