Thanks, that was marvellous - it took a couple of the undefined clues for the theme to click but after that it was a reasonably steady solve (I admit I had to reveal 19a). Podium: 7a, 28a and 1d. Spoilers in reply ->

Very nicely constructed Angel, thanks. I solved one of the themers quickly, which put me on the right track. 19a a NHO but I got it ok. My only stumble was in the SW - see reply. Favourites: 7a (COTD), 17a, 23a, 26a, 12d and 25d. Spoilers …

Unsurprisingy lovely. SIs usually give me the fear but this was a cracking theme that even I understood and enjoyed hugely. I’m enormously grateful you didn’t go with a Strictly themer as that would have made me sob with ignorance. 7a, 10a, 1d, 5d, 24d all floated my boat. Super fun. Ta lots.

Thanks Angel. Ignorant of the theme but I enlisted the help of an expert friend and we made short work of the puzzle thereafter. Like others, NHO 19A but a straightforward parse. Enjoyed 7a, 17a, 27a, 1d, 2d, 6d, 12d and 16d. A pleasing puzzle even without thematic interest
