With apologies for rough edges - created rather quickly & without testing, spoilery notes follow ...

Great work, especially for a quick turnaround - and somewhat more accessible than usual (don’t take that as a hint to do another super-toughie 😆) though a couple held me up at the end - including 20a, of course. Liked 7a, 12a, 14a, 1d and 8d. Spoiler ->

Thanks Fez. When I saw the bass guitar photo I knew I would like this. The 'Lou Reed classic' clue was a write-in for me but the rest was not as simple. I particularly enjoyed 12a, 8d, 9d, and 18d but I got mired in the SE and revealed 20a, 26a, and 24d; I wish I had given more time to 24d because I think it's a great clue. More in reply.

Great stuff Fez, thanks. I also came a cropper in the SE for a couple of obvious reasons (and slightly in the NW with rather less excuse). Terrific cluing, particularly given how quickly you put this together. Favourites: 10a, 14a, 19a 25a 11a, 22a, 3d, 5d, 13d (COTD) and 16d. Spoilers ...

A fitting tribute to this towering figure of the bass.

Beaten by the obvious one - though I had the word but simply didn't believe it was a word so didn't put it in! Well done to assemble this so quickly - your 'rough around the edges' is still smoother than many I see. 6a, 12a, 15a, 26a, 3d, 4d, 5d, 8d and 24d my faves. Thanks. PM

Well, that was a bit of a blast from the past, even though I didn't get the bigger picture. 14a brought back memories.

Loved it, as usual, Fez. Didn't get the theme despite knowing of 6a 7a, although not of his recent passing. I obviously didn't get 20a, but what a great word; one so bizarre I can't possibly forget it now! 24d, 18d, 13d, 8d, 4d, 23a, 6a (took me a while, had me going bananas) 10a (very clever) my favourites. I did like 19a 25a 11a and 9d too, but the enumeration and artists' names made them write-ins...

Well, Fez, this was a joyous romp after your previous effort left me contemplating my inadequacies to the extent I couldn't even venture an opinion!! I loved 6a, 10a, 22a, 3d, 4d, 8d, 13d especially, but others too. Ultimately defeated by 20a and a couple besides, but will certainly look to use it at the earliest opportunity!
