Special Instructions: A celebration of all the clue writers this year who finished: 'Leader having lost order, Rome burned and Nero fiddled (6,3)'. Contains clues from a number of different setters, hope they approve of my using their clues - credits in the annotated solutions. Here's to another great year of clue-writing contests in 2024!

Well, I fair rattled through that, which probably says something about how much time I spend on this site 😆 I recognised several of the 'cover version' clues including my own, of course 😁 Good work, er, everyone!

An interesting exercise and a nice shout out to some of the recent winners. Well executed, Phantom. Thanks. PM

Thanks Phantom, nice to see those clues "in the wild"! Aside from the winners, faves include 9a, 12a (a new meaning for me), 7d, 22d & 23d ... and the lovely reminder of the poet in 28a ...

Very nicely done, Phantom. Good to be reminded of some terrific clues and some fine additions too, of which I thought 23d stood out. Thanks.

Great idea, thanks Phantom. Enjoyed seeing these clues again and it was nice to have an immediate foothold in the grid! Of the new clues I particularly liked 23d and other favourites were 9a, 20a, 28a and 25d.
