Cryptic crossword No 1,214

Thanks Jaspa ... nothing too outrageous but possibly a little tougher than expected? Favourites 9a, 10a, 13a, 20a, 1d, 6d (needed a little help with that one), 7d & 12d. Spoilers ...

This was really nice, thanks! I think maybe the deletion in 12d is clued twice? Otherwise just a good level of difficulty for me and I enjoyed the longer phrases.

Fun as always, Jaspa. I'd agree it was a bit tougher than usual. I tend to do anagrams in my head - and long ones are harder - so the grid was much easier on the second pass when I had some crossers. I liked 9a, 20a, 7d, 12d, 15d and 18d in particular. Thanks. PM

Good fun Jaspa thanks, which was the perfect diversion on a short train journey yesterday. The trickier ones identified by others caught me out too, as did 15d, so overall I agree a bit more difficult than normal. My favourites were 9a, 13a, 4d, 7d, 12d and 14d.

Nice one Jaspa. I thought it was going to be a breeze when about half the across clues went in quickly, but then I had to work quite a bit harder with 6d, 12d, 15d 17d and 18d proving the least cooperative. In the end I needed a couple of reveals, so would echo this being a tad tougher than the average Jaspa. But nonetheless, great fun with 13a, 3d & 7d my podium.
