Ha, fabulous. I guessed it was ‘another’ early on and that helped 😁 the topical surface in 4d was entirely lost on me though! CotD 10a for the definition 👏

As soon as I entered 1a, I thought "Darn it, he's going for it again!". That was the only reason I guessed 2d to complete the grid (which made me LOL once parsed). 10a's def is a sheer delight. Just fab. You set the bar so high, I can't get enough elevation to knock it off, never mind to even dream of one day clearing it!

Shakes fist! How dare you be so clever? Such fun. The device was a great help to solving. Faves were 4d, 5a & 9d.

I'm in awe! Strangely enough, I was thinking about this as a possibility a couple of days ago and thought "Nah, it's not possible". Well, there you go. It was no help with solving though, as despite that, I didn't spot what was going on until I read the comments. Having no interest in football, 4d went straight over my head too. Now I've looked it up, it's brilliant.
