Cryptic crossword No 993

Lovely stuff Samsa, really interesting grid fill and a ton of neat, inventive clueing. I'm not normally a fan of "broken" solutions but yours were all done really satisfyingly and once I'd got into the flow of things they actually helped me finish the puzzle. I particularly liked 9a ("spot with a castle" is very cute), 10a (very neat), 15a (cute), 16a (fun), 24a (nho but satisfyingly gettable), 26a (smooth), 31a (nice), 2d (very neat), 18d (very neat), 22d/17a (clever and neat) and 29d (v. neat)
