Welcome to MyCrossword Mary. A fun solve with plenty of wit. Just done this in the pub with a crowd of irregular solvers. Kudos on 15A and 3D both of which raised a laugh. There were a few definitions, and unindicated wordplays which raised some eyebrows. Full and frank feedback on those in the morning if you want them. Either way thumbs up for braving the waters. Very enjoyable thanks.
Thanks Mary, a very nice debut with lots to enjoy and some impressively concise clues too. For some reason took quite a while to get on wavelength, but all came together nicely in the end. Favourites 1a (though I do wonder if it is perhaps asking a bit too much?), 5a, 15a, 25a (although personally I'd prefer eg "stewed lamb & sheep" to avoid noun as anagram indicator), 1d, 2d & 17d. Spoilers in reply ...
Thanks Blah and fez! I really appreciate the feedback. Golly there are more issues with the puzzle than I would have thought (I had not even considered the enumerations for example, and my mistaken def of team was pretty dumb). I will add a note with errata, and hopefully my next will be smoother. Glad there was nonetheless enjoyment to be had here! I am very impressed with this website and community.
Welcome Mary and thanks for a most enjoyable debut. For some reason, the right hand side slotted in much more easily than the left, but that could just be me. As Fez and Blah have already been unleashed to note minor quibbles, I can just focus on my favourites, which were: 5A, 12A, 15A, 30A, 1D and 3D.
hi Mary, nice to see this one getting another outing over at Rookie Corner today. They (or should I say "we" - I normally throw in my tuppence worth on RC but having already solved and commented here, I'll sit this one out) can be a tough crowd, but fair - and you'll get excellent advice from Prolixic.
