Cryptic crossword No 632

Thanks Umpire - that was tough, but great fun and immaculately clued throughout. Too many good 'uns to justify picking any favourites. Spoilers follow ...

Thanks Umpire! The first three-quarters or so was steady away, then it got decidedly tougher, and the last few were as hard as nails! But I have a general rule to not give up or Reveal so armed with a dictionary, a thesaurus and the Check button I finally wrestled 15d, 20d and a handful of others to the ground! On the Guardian scale I’d say that was definitely a Saturday. Great work, will look out for your name again.

Lovely puzzle Umpire, thank you. Tough but playful and precise and I enjoyed this very much. My favourite clues were 1a 6a 13a 16a 24a 27a 2d 4d and 20d. Thought 21a and 7d brilliant. Will expand a bit in reply to avoid spoilers...

Lovely puzzle Quite hard for me but good clueing

Hi Umpire. A couple of tricky words in there to slow me down but, on the whole, a lovely approachable puzzle made easier for me by your clean clueing. I did particularly like 1a, 6a, 14a, 19a, 7d, 8d, 20d (which I knew from plenty of music festivals, oddly enough! Somehow, I doubt that's much of a spoiler). A few queries with spoilers in Reply.
