Polymath, excellent crossword, crisp and fresh as a nice white wine. Absolutely delighted by 13a, 20a and 26a - really clever stuff there - and plenty of other crowd-pleasers to go along with them. Very minor grumbles follow.........

Delightful offering Polymath, thank you. I liked the biblical device in 14d very much and 7d is simply brilliant. A few places I felt could have benefited from a "perhaps" or similar to indicate a specific type of thing, but on the whole I enjoyed it!

Thanks Polymath for an enjoyable puzzle. I particularly like the cryptic definitions in 23a and 21d, the former of which is an impressively long word for that clue type. Agree with Umpire that there are a few definitions by example that could do with being indicated, but that didn't detract. Other favourites were 25a, 27a, 7d, 8d (clever and novel 😀) and 14d (halfway through the Bible is very good).

Excellent puzzle, Polymath! You’ve got a couple of proper old chestnuts but they’re offset by lots of inventive and highly original clueing (not least 8d), and there’s a great sense of fun running through it all. Favourites for me were 13a, 23a, 7d, 8d, 14d, 23d.
