Really enjoyable mental workout, got most of this (admittedly with a bit of guesswork and checking along the way), plenty of laughs and penny drops too. Favourites were 1a, 21a, 27a, 1d, 2d (truly exceptional!) and 13d...

Some absolutely lovely clues in here, and a couple of wonderful penny-drop moments (eg 8d). 25a was LOI for me due to the general knowledge requirement, but entirely gettable. Kudos for 1a 10a 11a 22a 27a, 1d, 2d, 5d (excellent def), 8d and 13d.

Hi Ghoti, thanks for the puzzle which took a couple of goes to crack. Some very nice surfaces like 26a, 3d and 5d but my favourite by a long way is 13d with very nice charade. Cheers!

Thanks Ghoti. 1d set things up for some ‘cryptic’ fun and the rest of the puzzle didn’t disappoint! My shining lights were 22a, 25a, 27a, 1,16d, 3d, & 23,20d. I agree with Cricket about 17d, though maybe it works better in Sidney? Ok with the homophone in 6d but might feel a bit out of it on such a chair! Cheers.

Great stuff, Ghoti! Perfectly in my sweet spot too - most went in easily but a few chewier ones kept me thinking. Favourites were 18a, 28a, 3d, 8d and 13d.

Thanks Ghoti, enjoyed that a lot! That’s the second of your crosswords I’ve finished after the one with the threes - loved the playful and inventive cluing here too. Faves were 1a, 26a, 1d, 6d, 8d and 13d.
