Thanks Gobbo - a challenging workout, tough in places. I particularly liked 20a, 24a, 6d (very clever!), 9d, 14d & 25d. Some (e.g. 15a (+typo?), 26a) I found to be either iffy or incorporating wordplay devices I'm not (yet?) familiar with. Can't say which with confidence so won't add detailed comment at this stage.

Thanks Gobbo, that’s quite a puzzle! Loads of clever devices and wordplay, an ingenious grid and some great surfaces. I needed lots of help over the line, but I’m not a particularly good solver. I’ll be interested to see how the better solvers get on. A few things I’m not sure about, which I’ll put in a reply. Particularly impressed by 4A, 11A,17A (excellent!), 24A, 26A, 27A (lol), 6D, 14D and 16D.

Out of my league on this one but really appreciated much of what I could fathom, such as 8a, 17a, 27a, 6d and 16d

Thanks Gobbo - hard, but fun! Loved 17a and 28a.

A very good puzzle with a really original grid. The very clever 3 was my favourite. I also appreciated the very careful wording of 22. Lots of great surfaces, in particular 16 and 21.

Enjoyed the vast majority of this, Gobbo, and those I ticked were astoundingly good! 17a, 18a, 20a, 24a, 26a, 27a, 28a, 6d, 14d, 16d, 21d, 25d (I think). That's quite a list and I'd be delighted if I encountered any of those in a Guardian or Indy puzzle. Chapeau! That said, and in the interests of balance, I felt I reacted less positively to quite a few of those I didn't tick; various quibbles/iffiness about device/word order. So a curate's egg for me.

On re-reading my note, I felt it seemed somewhat curmudgeonly at the end, which was not the desired intent. And I had meant to nominate a few COTD's: 2d was particularly neat and I love well clued short words; 21d is succinct, witty and true; 16d has a topical surface and is very nicely constructed; 24a reads beautifully - a stunning clue; 17a takes the biscuit. I would be chuffed as heck if I came up with something as clever. Superb.

Started this last week but finally got round to finishing it tonight... great work, Gobbo. I'll echo PostMark - you've got some truly outstanding clues here, but also some that... well, let's say they need polishing. On balance, the positives far outweigh the negatives. And if this is your first attempt at a whole crossword, it bodes well - I'm looking forward to your next already. *Lots* of ticks: 8a, 13a, 17a, 18a, 24a, 27a, 28a, 1d, 6d, 19d, 21d, 25d. Bone picking in reply...

I've been meaning to complete this for nearly two weeks now, I see widders beat me to it. And I must say I agree with him and PM, some lovely clueing and a few less elegant. Definitely ticks for 8A, 11A and 2D in particular with several excellent runners-up too. SPOILERS in reply

I’ve just started this. Finding it hard to get going, but think I’ll enjoy it. I just wanted to say 23d hahaha (when I finally got it). Nice one. Love that
