Great fun chopin, thanks. Lots of inventiveness and a gentle theme to enjoy too. Particularly impressed by your charades. Favourite clues: 14A, 19A, 30A, 5D, 8D, 20D and 22D.

Thanks @chopin, a nice workout! I especially admired 12a, 19a, 25a, 5d, 7d, 15d & 21d. Learnt something new from 26a. Some of the wordplay still not clear to me - annotated solutions are very helpful for reviewing after solving. A few detailed comments/spoilers in reply.

Thanks chopin, this was fun and pitched at a nice difficulty level I thought. 14a was my favourite clue for its clean surface but I also enjoyed 13a, 19a, 30a, 6d, 27d.

Nice crossword Chopin, took me forever to get 1a, which slowed the whole operation down. Felt a bit dim once the penny dropped. I remember much discussion about the portmanteau clues on Alan Conot's Guardian blog, so knew what I was trying to find, but might be a bit tricky for those unfamiliar. Enjoyed 13a and 6d. Thank you

Not entirely comfortable with "dour" in 14a; and I wasn't familiar with the device in 4d. But generally this was a delight. 10a is a bit wordy but to good effect; especial favourites among your clues 1a, 9a, 10a, 13a (I always admire a good clue for a very short word), 14a (subject to that minor reservation), 19a, 28a, 30a (a new but apt description of Brexit...?), 2d, 8d, 15d, 16d. Really enjoyable. Thank you.

Very nice grid! Hadn't seen a clue with wordplay like 4d before so that gave me trouble, but I liked it once I got it. Had some questions with some of the definitions, notably 10a. Particularly fond of 1d, 9a, 20d, and 30a (though I wasn't familiar with the solution). Fun!
