25a defeated me. Got 6d from the definition and checked letters alone - "Writers to Tolkiens" as an indication is a step to far for me. Some good clueing, and I enjoyed the saucy ones - 13a and 23a! This was my first visit to MyCrosswords - picked this puzzle at random - a nice introduction.
