Welcome on board, Baz. As Coot says, this is a solid quiptic-style debut with pleasing constructions and some decent surfaces. It's a great idea to start off with something reasonably straightforward: it'll help you focus on getting the cryptic grammar right which is essential. I had ticks for 10a, 13a, 19a, 24a, 26a, 7d and 9d. Thanks. PM

Thanks for the puzzle, Baz. I think this must be the first puzzle you've put out into the public rather than your first puzzle full-stop, as I can't believe anyone's first puzzle full-stop could be this good. The wordplay is near-faultless, and when combined with great surfaces the results are very impressive. 24a and 9d were my favourites, with 26a and 7d being honourable mentions. Hi Baz, welcome to MyC and thanks for an entertaining puzzle. Just the ticket to wind down after a long day at work and impressively smooth for your debut as others have noted. Impressively smooth surfaces too, I particularly enjoyed 11a (nice), 12a (simple and effective), 14a (neat), 17a (cute), 24a (neat), 26a (very neat) and 9d (fun). I shall look forward to your next!
