Yes, quite tricky this one. Not sure my brain was entirely with it whilst solving though, which doesn't help, so I did reveal a few. Enjoyed it nevertheless, my favourites were 12a, 19a (despite the reveal; drafted works for me btw) 21a, 27a, 6d (cheeky but clever!), 9d (quite the construction and clever def), and 25d. I hadn't heard of blodpalt or the US meaning of Joe, and didn't know Mr Hanks's obsession - always nice to learn a few things though!
Utterly defeated by this one, ALP, and that is unusual for me. Less than half the grid filled after twice the time I'd normally expect to solve in. Probably good to have that humbling experience once in a while; just in case I thought I was becoming a good solver. Undone by lots of missing GK, failing to recognise synonyms, not spotting your constructions. I imagine 6d was your highlight when compiling; unlikely to appear in the Telegraph, methinks. Thanks. PM
