Cryptic crossword No 2,046

Thanks Dr_Sloth, fun and not too challenging (which is nice for a Friday when the papers all go super tough). The surfaces of 14 and 23 made me smile

This was fun, reasonably easy but without being simple. Some really nice sideways definitions in it, too
