Very enjoyable, Shorty - favourites - 12a, ('with rum' is very slick), 19a, 29a, (lovely surface), 4d, 11d, (like the misdirection of 'prayer' - one who prays)

Lovely puzzle, some twisty clues and answers I needed your help to parse. Loved the Brontë reference with mad Cathy that sent me wandering the moors briefly, buffeted by storms. 29a my favourite (was derailed a while by having a wrong but totally parse-able solution to 24d)
