Very good, thanks Gennaro. Rather trickier than your usual fare, I thought, possibly because of the change from your regular format. Lots to like. My favourites were: 10a, 14a, 28a, 1d (COTD), 6d, 16d and 28d. Spoilers ...

Great work and actually a nice change from your regular trademark device! I managed to find most but not all of what I was supposed to find 😁 and liked 13a, 24a, 28a, 1d (loved police chief), 6d and 20d. More in reply ->

Thanks Gennaro. Classic fare from you. The change in format meant I did actually miss the intent of your SI so no joy for me there, I'm afraid. Ticks include 11a, 21a, 22a, 28a, 1d (agree with Coot, COTD), 4d, 20d. Thanks. PM

Thanks Gennaro. I loved this and for once sailed through it in under an hour (a first for me!). Clues were clear and entertaining with 1d's Police Chief the pick of the bunch. 11a, 13a, 14a, 6d, 28d also appealed. Spoilers...

Thanks, Gennaro. I think dropping the usual Nina has freed you up a little - some great clues here, including 9a, 11a, 17a, 21a, 25a, 1d (I've used this device myself and seen it around more since, so easily spotted, but I still like it!), 8d, 21d (learnt a new word in the bird), and 28d. Cheers!

Your SIs tickled me! And, for once, I knew most of the themers. Makes a change. Very strong, this. I think Dave makes a great point. This did feel very free. In a good way. Big ticks for 10a, 12a, 16a, 21a, 24a, 1d and 8d. I’m not sure 13a’s DD quite works. You’d empty or clean your bag, sure, but would you clear it? And, in 17a, shouldn’t “er” be an "expression of" or "express"? That -ing just seems a tad odd. To me. But, erm, that’s it. Lovely stuff. Ta lots.
