I am normally apologising for lateness but I think I benefited on this occasion: on reading the comments, I couldn't see what the problem was with 26a - and then I looked at edits. Lucky me! I did suspect something from puzzle number and picture tbh and then I looked at the only three letter solution on the grid and confirmed my suspicions.
