Cryptic crossword No 1,868

Very good puzzle, with some nicely chewy clues and intricate constructions that I enjoyed teasing apart. In particular I applaud 22a, 25a, 2d, 7d and 16d. Thanks!

Great stuff - thanks for putting this one up, Amoeba. Today's lesson is that we are generally pretty poor at remembering puzzles! Looking back at my NTSPP comment, I suspect I found this trickier second time round. I nominated 10a, 11a, 27a, 4d, 15d and 19d as favourites before, which seems like a pretty good list.
