Cryptic crossword No 1,781

Good stuff PM, thanks. Classic fare: well crafted surfaces, sneaky constructions and challenging synonyms. Pretty tricky and I must admit to being rather pleased with myself that I only needed to reveal one letter, even though quite a few remained unparsed before seeing your notes. Like Coot, I found this gentler than expected and managed to crack it entirely despite a few nhos (more obscure defs mainly). I particularly enjoyed and admired 6a, 10a, 22a, 27a, 16d, 19d & 21d among others. So thanks PM. Some spoilery discussion in reply…

Finished in a few sittings and with a few reveals. (Not a strong solver!) Particularly admired 12a, 7d, 8d. Thanks for the puzzle :)

Thanks PM. Started off flying in the NW and finished somewhat slower in the SW with nho 17d needing all the crossers for LOI. Very much enjoyed it, favourites 8d, 12a, 22a, 27a and 7d, cheers!

Sorry to be tardy, PM, but finding it hard keeping up with so many puzzles appearing and being a slow solver. ! I thought this was great and nicely accessible, though perhaps not your sparkling best. Was defeated by 23a and 4d as NHOs but found it a v satisfying solve otherwise with faves: 14a (lovely misdirect, 16a, 19a (initially thought it a misspelling, but with 4 variants, anything goes!)24a, 2d, 3d (for the lol), 5d and 21d.
