Cryptic crossword No 1,454

It's been far too long since I last put anything out here. I've tried to make this one towards the easier end of the spectrum, but with a few chewier clues to hopefully make it interesting... Hope it's enjoyable! (And apologies to our esteemed host for 5d 😂 )

Thanks widders, this hit the 'straightforward but needing a bit of thought in places' button for me! Particularly liked 1a, 13a(!), 20a, 2d, 17d, and 23d. Sadly I can't make Panthera's Cryptic Sunday stream but I think this'll go down well!

13a is just lovely! As is the rest, but that one in particular! I was wondering if Kedgeree could be pluralised, but Chambers says yes!

That was a most enjoyably solve widders, thanks for the puzzle! A satisfying range of difficulties for this solver with delightfully neat and evocative surfaces across the board. Lots to like, particularly 1a (very neat), 9a (fun), 13a (lovely), 23a (very neat, satisfying def), 25a (very neat), 26a (lovely), 2d (very neat), 5d (cheeky!), 7d (very cheeky), 8d (neat), 21d (fun) and 24d (neat).

Great fun! I'm just getting back in the game myself, and particularly appreciative of how challenging it is to make a puzzle that is interesting and enjoyable without being too difficult. You've managed the balance perfectly. I loved the clever surfaces of 13a, 1a, and 23a. And plenty of other favorites, including 2d, 6d, 8d (clever), 17d, 26a (fun!), 7d (elegant), 18a (neat), and 24d.

It's been a long time since doing one of yours, and this one was a pleasure. Particular favourites for me were 13a, 3d and 6d.
