Objective achieved, Bottom, insofar as this was certainly fairly accessible compared to others. What a lot of short answers! Which, of course, suited your minimalist cluing. You are very tight as always. As before, though, it is hard to nominate specific favourites on the grounds of depravity. Spoilers in Reply. Thanks. PM
Over the moon to see Bottom back in town! This felt a little more approachable, possibly due to the tightness and precision of clueing, and jolly good fun from start to finish - I particularly liked 5a (lovely), 6a (neat), 10a (fun surface), 14a (likewise), 17a (very neat), 23a (fun def), 25a (good lord :D), 29a (neat), 1d (likewise), 2d (nice), 8d (great fun), 15d (neat), 18d (nice) and 26d/27d (fun surface combo) - thanks for the grins!
A pleasure as always, Bottom - I thought the one-two hit of getting 12a and 13d back-to-back was going to be the highlight of my solve, but that honour has to go to the moment I opened the annotations at the end and realised what you'd been up to. And there I was, thinking you were just showing off your ability to write concise, on-brand clues for just about any common word... how are you gonna top that?
Thank you all for solving and commenting. I waited until today to reply as it's international HOWL at the MOON day. Also have been completely offline for the last week or so as is my wont from time to time. If I don't rest up my beaver creaks with fatigue. I have always found the 'accepted' etymology of norks a little unconvincing but didn't really dig deeper until now. Google was uncharistically reticent on the topic but I did find this on mumsnet.
