Thanks Leucine for an enjoyable morning solve, a pleasant way to start the day. I particularly enjoyed 13a, 20a, 19a, 7d, 17d & 21d with others also making me smile. None made me wince, although a couple of queries in reply, spoiler alert.

Thanks Leucine, super stuff. Some of the surfaces are a tad bizarre but the precise and accurate clueing more than makes up for that. Favourites include 16a ("oral" nicely misleading), 19a (nice definition), 22a, 25a ("taken short" satisfyingly precise), 2d, 3d (educational, and clearly clued for a nho), 4d (for "clubbing"), 6d (another nice def), 9d, 19d & 21d (both great wordplay) and 23d (COTD?) Spoilers ...

Cracking puzzle, Leucine, thanks. Pretty tricky for me - a combination of GK (expanding some holes in my ignorance) and cunning wordplay. I understand OzP's and Fez's quibbles although only 1a of those points really struck me at the time. Favourites: 13a, 29a, 2d, 7d (notwithstanding Fez's point), 18d and 23d. Spoiler...

Lots of fun in this one, Leucine. The advantage of leaving it a day or two (rugby took up much of yesterday!) means previous commenters have done the heavy lifting wrt quiblets - I had some, though not as many as Fez. And agree 1a is 'nearly' there. Faves include 10a for its succinctness, 13a for both trademarks, 27a which made me smile, 28a for the reference, 15d COTD and 23d for tightness. Thanks. PM

Lots of fun — thanks for the namecheck in 28a! A few little eyebrow twitches but all covered by earlier commenters, and as Fez says, MyC is a good place for such experimentation! Liked 12a, 20a, 6d, 15d and 19d 😁
