Brilliantly done, Fez - thanks! I really struggled until I twigged the theme, at which point I must admit that I indulged in some Googling to get the other themers into the grid. A super selection of crafty constructions (as per), a couple of which defeated me (also as per). Particularly liked 23a 16d, 27a, 3d, 6d, 7d and 18d.
That is a pretty impressive grid fill to have achieved so you are forgiven the obscurities. I am no fan whatsoever but I did crack 4d early on and put 2 and 2 together at that point. (Well, they make 4 don't they?). I didn't manage to parse all the long ones or the triangular but everything else fell into place over a session late last night and then a finish this morning. Favourites include 10a, 13a, 27a, 1d/21d, 4d, 15d and 18d. Very well done. Thanks. PM
A most impressive grid fill with a theme going straight over my head (callow youth that I am) and while bested in a few spots, had a lot of fun with this one Fez. Some very clever touches and the usual Fezzy wizardy with surface assembly, I particularly liked 10a (fun), 13a (neat), 14a (clever), 25a (smooth), 4d (clean), 7d (neat), 18d (nice assembly) and 24d (smooth) - thanks for the puzzle :)
