Cryptic crossword No 1,134

Very nice PM. 23a, 2d and 3d were my favourites in a nice Sunday afternoon workout. Only got some of the theme, but enough to confirm a few things!

Kicking off your second half-century in style! Fantastic work, it's hard to articulate how impressed I am with the construction without giving away spoilers. Faves: 23a, 26a, 3d, 6d, 20d. Bravo!

Thanks for another highly enjoyable puzzle, PM; even if, as you say, some surfaces are a little odd, that only adds to the fun. Top 3: 4A, 26A, 22D.

I didn't catch on to the theme at all, I'm embarrassed to say. Liked the fan service in 6d and 7d though, and enjoyed 9a, 11a, 22a. Spoiler in reply.

Very good, PM - thanks. The theme passed me by during the solve of course but the amount of thematic material that you have included is very impressive. I rattled through the left hand side - on your wavelength for once - and then had something of a struggle on the right. Favourites: 1a, 17a (albeit NHO), 21a, 25a (for the silliness of it), 6d, 14d, 22d and 24d.

Another cracking puzzle PM, this was lots of fun. An impressive amount of thematic density with no loss in smoothness or humour of your surfaces. I particularly 1a (smooth and neat), 8a (neat), 9a (smooth), 13a (fun), 15a (clean), 17a (satisfyingly constructed nho), 21a (fun), 23a (satisfyingly clever), 26a (great def, nice construction), 27a (fun), 2d (nice), 3d (fun), 14d (neat), 20d (very clean) and 24d (neat) - thanks for the entertainment!
