Thanks yogdaws. Drawn in to this by the puzzle cover image and not disappointed. Lovely theme, with clever grid and clueing, and a tricky solve (for me)! A personal top five were 12a, 16a, 4d, 8d and 22d. Spoilers to follow.

Very nicely done yogdaws ... thought I'd spotted the theme early, but I did wonder at first about some of those unusual words in the clues - they certainly helped to discover the clever depth of the theme! Lovely stuff, thanks again 😃

Thanks for the puzzle yogdaws, a delightfully executed theme making for lots of satisfying moments. Impressively dense thematic grid fill too. I particularly liked 7a (FOI and got me on the right track, nicely set), 11a (neat), 12a (clever and fun), 13a (nice use of thematic fodder), 16a (smooth), 21a (neat), 24a (very clean), 27a (smooth assembly), 1d (neat, though feel the EM might be overkill), 4d (very neat), 5d (neat), 8d (neat), 14d (likewise), 22d (neat) and 25d (cute, raised a smile) gg!
