Thanks pecabite. Definitely tricky but not sure about the ‘offensive’. The Spoonerism count maybe- with the gauntlet thrown down by the cover image? Not a problem for me when they’re really good ones, like 8a/17d and 13d. 10a did beat me despite getting the elements of the parse. 2d needed the crossers but I smiled at the definition after the event. 21a was a very good example of its kind. 6d was a pecabite word order puzzler but I’ve learned to spot them and this was good. 11d masterful. 14d is
I found this Tricky so the puzzle tag is about right for me. Not sure about 'Explicit' though - mentioning a blue movie and a prostitute in the clues is hardly extreme. Like Sisyphus, I could not overlook the number of Spoonerisms and thought it might be a theme. There was also the (very) mini Japan theme. 12a, 14a, 2d (not 100% convinced 'traversing' is the optimum indicator but it's a nice idea), 6d, 14d my faves. Thanks. PM
Thanks pecabite. Not quite a quick solve as I was completely flummoxed by 10a so, as others have said it was a bit tricky. Nonetheless, I plotted my way through it and enjoyed the Spoonerisms. Favourites were the Spoonerisms and 12a, 21a, 11d and 14d. I like a good Spoonerism and did a themed one back in April Cryptic crossword No 3,346. Thanks again.
