This puzzle initially aimed to be a “Guardian Quick Cryptic” tribute, but that proved more difficult than I realized. A big thank you to Guinevere, a QC expert (eg, see QC No.61, May 30th, as Dice) for generous early feedback. She noticed the various mistakes that you will likely see here too! Some I’ve stubbornly kept; others I couldn’t figure out how best to fix. Regardless, I hope this is FUN. 😃

Some lovely clues in here. 1d and 16a were my favourites

Neat! You sure gave yourself an extra challenge with the reverend! Faves include 5a,9a,1d,2d,4d,12d (despite only having the vaguest idea of the sweets in the clue)

Thanks tpg for a clever crossword. My top picks were 10a, 19a, 4d, and 7d. I needed your notes to parse 15a & the seemingly superfluous 'Dubai' in 12d. Hats off for 5 Spoonerisms, a device I seldom use.
