Fun idea. I thought the homophone clued as 'nothing up north' in 7d meant 'anything', which is why 'you don't get ___ for n___'.

Thanks Pentman- very neat and largely sound! Quite a challenge to clue three-letter words without solutions being quickly guessable. You certainly managed this with 1a- I still don’t get it even after reading your annotation! Then you were naughty in 3a, but I forgive you 😊 5a was a write-in, as were 8a, 10a, 12a, 14a, 1d, 4d, 9d, 10d, 11d, 12d, 13d. Doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy ‘getting’ them. Which leaves…
