We’re a UK publisher and we are looking for a UK-based freelance crossword editor for a project targeting 18–25s. The goal is sharp, contemporary cluing grounded in modern UK culture. We are looking for someone who can set the editorial tone and curate guest grids from their own network of younger constructors. We are targeting Gen Z audience and want it to feel authentic. The Puzzle Variety: >Quick & Themed Crosswords: The backbone, but clued with modern music, cinema, memes, dating culture, internet phenomena, and UK-specific references (e.g. Bake Off, Glastonbury, British rail delays, Freddos, Traitors). >Association / "Connection" Grids: give players four words that belong to niche Gen Z categories. >Wordsearches with a Twist: Not just "Dog Breeds", but "Things found in the depths of a girls' handbag" or "Phrases that instantly give you the ick". >Mini Visual/Deduction Puzzles: Quick 2-minute brain teasers for breaks between study or work.
