Test Solvers Marketplace

The new Test Solvers page is now live at https://www.mycrossword.co.uk/test-solvers. It makes it easier to find someone to test solve your crossword before it’s published. How it works for setters - Open your crossword in the editor, then use the actions menu to request a test solve. You can add some details for solvers, such as what kind of feedback you’re after. - You’ll need at least 3 published crosswords to make a request, and you can only have one active request at a time. - Your request appears on the Test Solvers page, showing the crossword type, grid size, number of clues and a preview of the grid. - You’ll get an email when someone offers to test solve. You can accept or decline each offer. - Once you accept, the solver gets a link to your crossword and a private thread opens for just the two of you. Use it to swap feedback. Comments can be as long as you like. - If you’re done, you can close the request at any time. Requests also close automatically once the crossword is published. How it works for solvers - Browse the open requests on the Test Solvers page and offer to help with any that appeal. - If the setter accepts, you’ll get an email with the link to the crossword. If the crossword hasn’t been published yet, this is a preview link. Once it’s live, the link points to the published crossword. - Your “My test solves” tab shows the requests you’ve offered on, so you can follow up on them. If a setter doesn’t accept your offer, it will still show as “Offer sent”, so don’t read too much into it. A few things to know - Open requests expire after 4 weeks, or sooner if the crossword is scheduled for publication. - The thread is private. Only the setter and the test solver can see it. - When a request is closed or the crossword is published, the thread is locked, but you can both still read it. Let me know if anything's not working or if you've got some ideas about how it could be better.
