Cryptic crossword No 9

Thanks Martland. It's always great to see new content on the site. I think my main comment would be that there is a slight lack of precision across the grid. Which is a shame because there are some cracking concepts and nice surfaces in there! (1/3)

Congratulations, Martland, on producing this crossword. So far I've completed about a third of it. I can see that a lot of thought has gone into it, and there are good ideas here. My advice would be to really focus in on each clue in detail and polish it until its meaning...
