Cryptic crossword No 799

Well done, widdersbel. Another tightly clued puzzle but there are some very nice surfaces in here. Favourites include 9a, 10a, 15a, 19a, 26a, 4d, 12d, 14d, 16d, 20d and 24d. Spoilers in Reply. Thanks. PM

Excellent. The sound of pennies dropping resounded particularly 6a and 8d. Very enjoyable

Very neat widdersbel. Favourites were 10a, 25a (I'll never think of that word the same again), 29a (lovely Spoonerism), 3d, 7d, 12d (same as 25a) and 23d (great substitution).....

Hugely enjoyable and rather tough towards the end for me! Some really lovely clues and uses of cruciverbal devices that had me nodding appreciatively. I particularly liked 6a, 9a, 19a, 25a, 2d, 6d (outrageous but fun), 12d and 23d. Remaining comments are spoilers so in the reply. Thanks again!

Lovely stuff. I couldn't make out 6a, and kicked myself for it; but having revealed that allowed me to get the brilliant 6d. Other favourites 25a, 28a, 29a, 3d, 4d, 12d (save that I would have had the clue read "...to attempt the impossible") and 23d.

Sparkling stuff! 1a went in easily for me but I resorted to revealing a fair few. Very enjoyable - thank you!

Thanks for the puzzle widders, some lovely, cunning clueing on show here. Quite tough in places but all tightly constructed. I particularly liked 9a (neat), 10a (fun surface), 11a (neat), 15a (fun), 19a (lovely construction), 25a (very neat), (neat), 3d (cute), 5d (neat), 6d (nicely done), 7d (smooth), 8d (lovely construction, nho the word), 14d (clean), 16d (neat), 23d (nice mechanism) and 27d (very neat). Top stuff!

I’ve been catching up with some solving and this is another I started a while ago. I thought there were some cracking clues in this. Loved 3d and 12d, as well as the existential declaration. Thought 10a 4d and 19a v neat. Thought 6d v clever, but I could have done with a helping hand! 😉 thanks
