Brilliant puzzle Conto, chock full of innovation, lovely stuff! I particularly liked 1a (very clean), 10a (nice surface), 11a (likewise), 15a (very neat), 19a (likewise), 24a (nice construction) ,1d/25d (delightful), 3d (fun), 5d (clever), 6d (likewise), 7d/20d (COTD) ,13d (nice assembly) and 17d/23d (needed some help but very fun). Thanks!

I appear to be first here, Conto. Nice to see you here and a typically nice construction. Not as evil as the last of yours I attempted: I managed to finish this one - but only just. 19a and its partner 13d held out long after everything else. Favourites include: 1a (nice spot), 9a (lol), 11a (classy), 21a (cleanly done), 24a (nice surface), 1d (lol), 14d (nice misdirection), 17d (amusing trick). Spoilers in Reply. Thanks. PM

Very imaginative stuff, and some great clues. My favourite is 6D, but also a mention for 15A, 18A, 24A, 11D and 14D. A good and satisfying workout, thanks. A couple of spoilers...

Well that was quite the challenge Conto! I struggled to get going on a first pass yesterday but made much quicker progress coming back to it this evening before struggling in the SE quadrant. Not a lot to add to others’ comments: chock full of wit and invention, and love the idea of the short clues although share reservations re a couple of them. Favourites: 6A, 15A, 16A, 26A (equal COTD), 1D 25D (equal COTD), 27D. Thanks!

Thanks to all those who have taken the time to try this puzzle, and to those who have commented - it's greatly appreciated. I agree with all the feedback, which is very helpful to receive.

Nice one Coot, this was entertaining! My favourites were !D. 5D, 14D, and 27D, although that's not to say I didn't enjoy the across clues...

Hey Conto - nice puzzle. I didn’t quite get on your wavelength but I’m out of practice, so found I needed a bit of help, but no less enjoyable! I really loved 24a (check this guy out https://youtu.be/BjD07oJrFZw) and 6d was really nice. Thought 3d brilliant and 5d v clever. Lols for 8d. Agree with others about 7d20d. 17d23d is fun, though maybe falls into the CD territory ie great if it clicks! Thanks very much for the fun and innovative puzzle

Enjoyed this a lot. It has some very fiendish / experimental clueing that hovered around the line between genius and madness - I concur with some previous eyebrow raises but also applaud your innovations. I was impressed when I saw a three-letter clue, then a two-letter clue and (oh bravo 👏 ) a one-letter clue! Fabulous work
