Cryptic crossword No 657

Well done Glynos and thanks for this. Some nice tight clues in here and a few leaps to be made in the solving but nothing I felt to be unfair. Favourites included: two short ones - both really neat 8a and 13a, 25a with a clever surface, 4d which surprised me, 5d very smooth, 7d works I think, 15d is lovely and 18d held out til the end. 22d has a complex but logical surface - a lot going on for a short word. Thanks glynos - a fun puzzle! Quite a mix of short and long clues, and although I will generally prefer the more concise clues, the longer ones unfolded nicely. My favourites were 11A, 14A, 24A, 4D, 5D, 7D and 17D.

Thanks for the puzzle glynos, that was fun! I'm a little late to the party but working back in time after a busy period and glad to have made it to yours. This was quite tricky in places for me (limited solver that I am) but lots of lovely constructions and PDs making for a satisfying solve. I particularly liked 9a (neat), 11a (likewise), 13a (very neat), 24a (clean), the 1d/2d combo, 3d (very nice), 5d (neat), 7d (very nice) and 15d (smooth).
