Cryptic crossword No 564

Thanks for the puzzle Madryn, I really liked the level of difficulty, making this a very satisfying solve. You've set a solid puzzle I think. My favourite clues were 9a, 10a (creative surface), 25a (a really good example of this type), 26a (took me a while to work out the parsing but I like this kind of thing, nicely done!), 27a, 28a (clean), and 19d (smooth surface).
