Cryptic crossword No 4

Really enjoyed that - thank you. Some of them made me laugh! 21a was my favourite, and I also really liked 1a, 6d, 15a and 16a.

Great puzzle; very enjoyable. All of your clue surfaces were solid. Favourites were 1a, 8a, 15a, 21a and 23a. Also terrific to see new content on the site. Thanks Journeyman.

Another set of thumbs up for clues my favourites were 1A, 9A, 17A and 14D.

Some lovely ones here, my favourites being 1ac (quite brilliant), 11ac, 15ac, 21ac. No doubt it's me, but I can't parse 1dn and 2dn and perhaps a possibility for the future would be to allow the setter to make their notes available ("Explain" as well as "Reveal"?)

It is remarkable that we still have the lady in 26 as a crossword setter's standby forty years after the fling for which she is remembered! (I don't think that counts as a spoiler - hope it doesn't).

Nice one - 15 made me chuckle, and the "west coast law enforcers" is a good usage. Re 16 - some people don't like Spooner clues but they always amuse me. :-) Only quibble: unless I'm parsing it wrong, is there an indirect anag in19?

This was a really enjoyable solve, albeit with a few quibbles which Ximenean purists might object to. Hidden words are usually fairly easy to spot, but one of yours (the second one) wasn't. Well hidden! And some clever wordplay here, especially 17a (my fave perhaps), (cont.)

Thanks Journeyman. The phrase in 1a was new to me, but a great find none the less! I enjoyed 21a, 7d and 16d very much - shame about the indirectness in 19d but it was rather straightforward so I don't mind so much!
