I feel it's been quite a while since I did one of yours, Coot, and going by the insight shown in your comments, I expected this to be good - and it was certainly that. I was defeated by 7d and 15d - drat! Favourites - and they were all well clued - 6a, 10a, 11a, 27a (on the podium), 29a, 2d, 9d, 17d (on the podium), 18d, 22d (on the podium). (Just FYI, one solution isn't annotated - probably in the Notes rather than the Clue line which is what I'm always doing 😊) SPOILERS IN REPLY

Hi Coot, that was another excellent puzzle, thanks. I found it rather challenging and was stumped by a few, although in checking I wish I'd stuck it out - your clueing is spot on! 1a was a fun starter; I liked 10a, 13a, 16a, 23a, 27a (loved it), 28a, 3d (had me stuck for longer than I'd care to admit!), 7d, 15d (my favourite Spooner I think I've seen), 17d, and 19d was also lovely.

Thanks Coot! Favourites were 17d, 18d, and 10a. 27a did for me, but it's very clever!

Very good puzzle Coot. Lots to enjoy and some clever misdirections. I found the bottom quite a bit harder and needed a few notes to understand parsing but some very clever stuff. Excellent all round. Favourites were 17d 29a 1,20 1d and 22d. Like isn’t the right word for 10a! A query in reply…

Very nice, Coot. There’s a lovely sense of fun running through this. Particularly enjoyed 11a (great surface), 13a, 7d, 17d, 22d, 25d. Ran aground on 15d but on seeing the explanation, I like it.

Nicely done Coot. I really like the variation of difficulties and types of clue, makes for an interesting solve. Lots of good clues to choose from but I'll pick out 6a, 11a, 2d, 22d for the great surfaces. 27a fooled me for a good while, but I do like it.
