Cryptic crossword No 3,862

Thanks Gennaro- a perfect accompaniment to a wake up coffee. You are a master of letter selection devices, achieved with a range of different indicators. My top clues today were 16a, 21a, 22a, 14d, 17d, 20d, & 22d. And a cricket clue in 24d! In 5d I might have chosen ‘after’ over ‘with’ to clarify order of particles but I don’t find the clue unfairly misleading.

A nice gentle start to Monday with some entertaining surfaces! One or two indicators I haven't come across before but all fair. I've done a wordsearch but don't know where the quote is hiding! Favourites are 22a, 24d, 30d, 15d, 9a, 23a, 32a and 20a. Thanks Gennaro

Thanks Gennaro for a friendly crossword and after 20a, I thought of and located the quote for once. I particularly liked 18a, 20a, 22a and 14d.

Some really neat surfaces (like 12a,18a,23a,5d,14d,24d) made this great fun to solve. Others that tickled me: 10a, 22a,30d. But I needed your hint to Boznut to locate the well hidden extra - I hardly ever see the more well concealed ones!

Thanks G - an enjoyable solve as ever, not too hard nor too easy. Right in the Goldilocks zone for me. Particularly appreciated 18a, 23a, 32a, 4d, 30d among others. Found the nina in the end, didn't help with solving but offered some icing on the cake as always.

Sometimes you make it look easy, as with this puzzle. A very pleasant solve with particularly helpful special instructions (I went after those clues first) and a hidden message that helped be with the LOI (16a). Kateh tipped me off to one clue (30d), but I would've had that one anyway! 9a took me way too long! Some faves: 11a, 13a, 20a not unrelated to the message, 23a, 30a, 31a, 4d, 7d, 15d, 20d, 30d.
