Thanks glynos, I enjoyed this. Plenty of good clues, with my standouts being 9a, 16a, 2d and 18d (which I thought was really clever, working perfectly as a reverse engineer with an added Swiss bonus!) I see it’s been a while since you were here last- hopefully not so long before your next appearance. Cheers!

Yes, glynos, it has been a while. Nice to see you back. Not too tricky though I failed at the last with the either nho or only ho in crosswords 8a. Not knowing what I was working towards, I had not correctly interpreted what 'firstly' was referring to. Thought I was gonna end up with an odd word for either goblins or a tree spirit! Podium for me is 9a, 3d and 18d which I like a lot. It does indeed appear as if there is double duty going on but there isn't. Thanks. PM
