Special Instructions: Today my mum (12a, 28d, 33a) turns 100. Once this puzzle would have meant something to her, and she’d have solved it easily. Nowadays everything’s a puzzle- but she carries on trying to make the best of it. This is my tribute to Old Mother Sisyphus! Hope it’s also something worth sharing (despite the nina monsters!)

Many happy returns to your mother and thank you for a puzzle fit for the occasion. Lots of great clues inc 1a, 9a, 12a, 27d, 28d; some interesting words; and a nice nina to boot. I don't get 32a but I'm sure that's just me being thick. (Doesn't feel right to nit-pick today but fwiw...:)... I'm not sure about 18a; doesn't disarmed imply removing the outer letters, in which case the last bit doesn't work?) But bravo for a vg puzzle!

Congratulations on a lovely puzzle! What a milestone to celebrate. As ever, some neat, not so everyday wordplay and nice surfaces. Faves include 9a,18a,29a,4d,7d,16d,28d

Happy hundredth year Mother Sisyphus (Enarete?). I've learned or remembered as few new words, including the bit that's left in a subtraction. My picks are 1a, 1d and 28d. Hope the birthday girl had a lovely day.

Many happy returns to your mum, Sisyphus. This was a worthy tribute. My favourites included 9a 19a 1d 13d 17d. There were a lot of NHOs here for me but they were in general straightforwardly clued so most were gettable (if often needing a check to make sure!).

Thanks Sisyphus for a thoughtful and, at times, poetic tribute to your mum. It sounds like she enjoyed her big day, congrats to her. I enjoyed your crossword a great deal with my favourites being 1a, 9a, 19a, 17d, 20d and the Nina, of course.

I found that tough and obviously could never have competed with your mother and whom I congratulate on reaching an incredible milestone. Lots in the puzzle I couldn't parse but did work out 23a, 29a, 12a which were NHO's as they were fairly clued. Thanks again Sisyphus.
