A nice tribute and a thoroughly enjoyable puzzle. Love the definition for 15d.

Lovely tribute to one of a kind! Lots of well-worked themers (including some you didn’t highlight) and of course a high standard of clueing throughout. Particular favourites were 10a, 14a, 16a, 27a, 2d, & 15d. I wouldn’t automatically have put 8d by the sea, and with 5d I was glad to welcome your king while noting that these days his matching queen is generally considered ‘old’! Thanks Catnip- all very much enjoyed!

Hi Catnip, thanks for the puzzle! I failed to spot the theme but it was no less enjoyable with lots of lovely clues. The surfaces are generally very concise but full of meaning. I think my top three are 7a, 24a & 15d. One tiny point is the final letter of 19d and 28a being clued using the exact same device. Cheers

Solid puzzle, Catnip and agree with Burrows that 15d is a neat def. 14a, 26a, 6d and 17d my faves. I have to say, your definition for 8d is brutal! The global coastline is 2.17 million kilometres! Thank Goodness for the radio broadcaster. Thanks. PM
