Thanks NoBadWeather. Enjoyable solve - relatively easy for the most part but a few chewier ones! Some neatly disguised hidden words esp 11a (though three might be a bit too many for some tastes?). Also liked eg 16a and 20a. (I'm a newbie and profess no expertise but I thought the rule of thumb was that three letter solutions should have two crossers? Maybe a grown up can enlighten us!)

Very nice, NBW! An interesting grid with its long and short lights, each posing different challenges for the setter. Reckon you’ve done well on both counts, varying the devices nicely. Faves for me were 9a, 10a, 26a, 5d, 16d, 18d (neat, maybe doesn’t need ‘and’?)19d, & 26d. Only query would be the hidden indicator in 25d. Thanks for the fun!

Love this puzzle Ben. As I said when I tested, I think all the 3-letter clues (which can be tough to set) were brilliantly handled, and the juxtaposition of those with a smattering of long ones led to a very fresh-feeling grid. So many favorites it's hard to highlight just a few, but I'll give plaudits to 10a, 12a, 20a, 26a, 2d, 5d, 15d (A+ surface), and 26d.

Thanks NoBadWeather. Very accessible but I had to reveal 14a as NHO and was thrown by the reverse notation involving 'consumes'. Favs were 17a, 18d, 16a,23a 4d
