Nice one Sisyphus, I reckon this is the best of yours that I've done. Favourite clues 6a, 7a, 9a, 23a, 12d. A few small liberties eg in 27a but personally I'm in favour of a bit of artistic licence rather than paint-by-numbers. Not sure about your Spoonerism - pheo and fear aren't homophones in my accent, but native southerners might like it more! I don't get how "un" equals one in 26a, though I see it is on the MyC abbreviations list - can you explain it?

Thanks Sisyphus for a very good crossword with my favourites being 23a, 24a, 4d, 17, and the 'hidden 7a to the 22d, 10a of soul'. I definitely think you're improving with each puzzle. Additional comments in reply

Haha, thanks for 9a ☺️ some lovely stuff in here including 23a, 5d, 7d and 16d. I agree with the comments made by others below but all in all, to coin a phrase, “minor points in an enjoyable puzzle” 😁

Thanks Sisyphus. Anthe pretty solid puzzle. Others have picked up on some of the points that struck me as worthy of mention. I get your point about conscious repetition - but perhaps might then expect it to be even more of a thing than just having a couple of words in twice. Faves inc 7a, 9a (I *think* the def works), 4d, 16d and 17d. Thanks. PM

Another very good crossword, Sisyphus. I struggled to get going one across clues, but it opened up with the downs. Needless to say I failed to read the instructions and missed the great 'Nina'! Favourites were the in-joke at 9a, 19a, 20a, 23a,2d,4d (lovely surface!). I'm in Yorkshire and I'm not being mardy but I don't pronounce Pheo and Fear the same either. (PS: re my LOI: Wasn't the Sphinx Egyptian?)
