Hi MagpieLinguist, thanks for a fun puzzle with some nifty clues, including 12a, 14a, 2d, 8d, 20d and 23d. It’s often the case that journeyman setters go for a good surface at the expense of sound cryptic grammar, but in your case I feel it’s rather the other way around. A number of the clues make no sense at all read as ‘ordinary’ sentences. It’s more work to get both elements in balance but worth the effort I’d suggest. Thanks again!
