Lovely stuff, Hex, very enjoyable indeed - succinct and precise clueing, not too difficult but some proper laughs - top favourites were 7d and 13d, but I also picked out 8a, 12a, 25a, 27a, 16d, 19d. Not sure the definition for 18d works, but otherwise pretty much 10a throughout. Great introduction to the site - you've set the bar very high for yourself.

Welcome to the site Hex, and as widdersbel says a very impressive debut! My favourites were: 11A (nicely disguised), 27A (neat!), 6D and 13D. Minor spoilers in reply. Thanks!

Really enjoyable puzzle, Hex; it's difficult to list favourites because almost all of it was excellent, with a combination of humour, good surfaces and sound and varied wordplay. As widdersbel observes, you have set yourself a very high standard to live up to.

I enjoyed this, thank you. Favourite clues were 8a 12a 24a 28a 1d 13d and 16d, which I think was delightful. Nice work! Cheers

Hello Hex and welcome; doubly so when you come bearing gifts like this. I'm echoing others with the 'very enjoyable', '10a standards' and 'bar set high' comments. My favourites, amongst a super bunch of contenders, include 11a, 22a, 24a, 27a, 28a, 2d, 13d (brilliant!) and 16d which made me smile. SPOILERS IN REPLY.

Agree with all the praise for this witty and smooth puzzle - very rare for me to have first and last entries as favourites but in 8a and 25a that was the case (though i thought the "the" in the latter was superfluous), plenty of smiles in between and really like the economy of clueing, thanks Hex.
